What to Wear When Playing Pickleball

Pickleball is wildly popular! Are you ready to hit the court for some pickleball?

There are over 4.8 million pickleball players, or “picklers,” in the United States, according to a 2022 report

Wearing the right clothing is a key component to enjoying your time on the court. From moisture-wicking shirts to well-fitting shorts and skirts and the right shoes, let’s explore what you should wear when playing pickleball.

Best Shirts for Pickleball

We recommend wearing a light, breathable long sleeve top, a t-shirt or tank top while playing pickleball. Pickleball is an active game and you can work up quite a sweat! Avoid wearing heavy cotton shirts as they will become saturated with sweat, making them heavy and uncomfortable.

Instead, opt for lightweight shirts made with moisture wicking materials such as polyester or nylon. These fabrics help move moisture away from your skin, keeping you cool and dry during your match. As an added bonus, many of these fabrics also contain sun protection factors (SPF) which helps protect your skin from UV rays during outdoor play. If you plan to be out for a few hours, consider a long sleeve sun shirt, such as a rashguard with UPF sun protection.

Best Shorts for Pickleball

When it comes to bottoms, we recommend wearing lightweight shorts that have a looser fit in order to allow for more movement on the court. Bike shorts with pockets are good. The last thing you want are shorts that are restrictive and restrict your range of motion when chasing after those volleys!

Additionally, look for shorts with pockets so that you can store items such as keys or snacks; this way you don't have to worry about carrying anything around as you're playing!

Best Tennis and Pickleball Skirts

For the fashionistas out there, you know some of the best parts of playing tennis or pickleball are the clothes. From headbands to sneakers, from tanks to shorts, one of the most iconic pieces for both sports has to be the tennis skirt or skort. Whether you’re looking for a classic white pleated skirt for a traditional look, a bold geometric print for a daring statement, or something in between, skirts and skorts can add flair and style to your game.

The key to any great piece of tennis or pickleball gear is finding that perfect balance between function and fashion. When it comes to skirts, you want something that will move with your body as you lunge and reach for shots on court. You also need something that will keep you cool in hot weather and provide plenty of ventilation on those hot summer days when you just can’t seem to slow down. Luckily, most tennis skirts are designed with breathable fabrics like polyester blends that help keep you cool while still looking fabulous on court.

On top of all this functionality, many of these skirts come with added features like built-in shorts or pockets. Shorts underneath are perfect if you want more coverage while playing; they provide more support and keep everything in place as you run around the court. Pockets can be great too; they give you a place to store your phone or keys.

Sports Bra

A good sports bra is essential for pickleball! Why? Running and jumping require support. Luckily there are a lot of great compression sports bras on the market, no matter what size you are. Take a look at our selection of medium to high compression sports bras from XS thru 5XL.

Best Shoes for Pickleball

The best choice of footwear when playing pickleball is "court shoes", or sneakers with plenty of cushioning and support. Basketball shoes often provide the most traction on the court while also offering plenty of shock absorption when jumping or running. A few top brands and styles for pickleball include Asics Gel Rocket, Asics Upcourt, K-Swiss and Mizuno.

However if basketball shoes aren't your style, then choose any type of sneaker that offers good arch support and comfort - this is essential in order to prevent injuries while playing pickleball. It's also important to note that sandals or flip flops are not allowed on courts due to potential safety hazards they pose while running around the court; instead opt for closed toe shoes at all times.

No matter what type of clothing or footwear you choose when playing pickleball, make sure it's comfortable and allows plenty of movement; this will ensure that you have an enjoyable time on the court! Look for materials like polyester or nylon which help keep sweat away from your body and offer sun protection from UV rays during outdoor play.

We also suggest wearing lightweight shorts with pockets so that storage items aren't an issue while chasing volleys! Finally, be sure to wear sneakers with plenty of cushioning and support - basketball shoes are often recommended but any type of sneaker that provides good arch support will do just fine too! With these tips in mind, get out there and have fun playing pickleball in style!
