About Us
Sustainable, Fun, and Made for Adventure
Hi, I’m Ava Carmichael, the founder of Berry Jane—a women’s activewear and swimwear brand designed for those who love bold, bright, and functional fashion. What started as a small passion project in 2010 has since grown into a thriving, sustainable apparel brand with customers worldwide.
At Berry Jane, we believe that style and sustainability can go hand in hand. That’s why most of our pieces are made when you order them—allowing us to offer a wider variety of prints, styles, and sizes while keeping our production waste to a minimum. This also helps me manage inventory responsibly and stay committed to sustainable manufacturing practices.
Small Business, Big Impact
A Fashion Designer with already a few years under my belt, I began at the Dallas World Trade Center with a girls' line of leggings in 2010. It wasn't long before the brand was noticed and picked up by select boutiques nationwide. Berry Jane grew quickly! In fact, it grew faster than I could keep up, and I had to scale it back to meet demand. The answer was direct to consumer online. So in 2020, Berry Jane relaunched as an online retailer. Our biggest win was being able to offer a variety of styles without the high-waste manufacturing impact.
Berry Jane is still a very small, family-run business, but we’ve been fortunate to experience healthy growth—especially in 2022. While we work with trusted sewing and fulfillment partners in California, North Carolina, China, Mexico, and Latvia, our ultimate goal is to expand our USA-based production and create jobs within our community.

We specialize in fun, vibrant activewear and thoughtfully designed swimwear, including modest, sun-protective options for water sports lovers. Our mission is to empower women to feel confident, comfortable, and stylish—whether they’re hitting the golf course, tennis court, catching waves, or simply enjoying the great outdoors.
As we continue to grow, our vision is clear: to scale sustainably, keep production ethical and at low-waste levels, and support local talent while bringing you high-quality, responsibly made apparel.

Berry Jane™ is a swimwear and activewear brand based in the US, which was founded in 2007 and officially launched in 2010. Our collection features sustainably made activewear, resort wear, beachwear, and swimwear.
Since our inception, we have aimed for sustainable manufacturing practices while growing into a lifestyle brand that empowers women to get moving and enjoy the activities they love, without feeling self-conscious or distracted by their swimsuit.
Sustainable Fashion
Did you know? An estimated 11.3 million tons of textile waste ends up in US landfills annually.
At Berry Jane™, we are committed to creating sustainably made products. Our mission is to provide women with quality apparel and swimwear that is both stylish and environmentally conscious while promoting sustainable practices throughout our supply chain.
We believe in the importance of not only using eco-friendly fabrics, such as recycled materials to reduce our environmental impact, but manufacturing less to avoid waste. That is why 90% of our garments are made when our customers order.
In addition, we are committed to working with manufacturing partners for our products using nearshore facilities in N. and S. America and USA. By doing so, we aim to support more American manufacturing and reduce our carbon footprint.

Much of Berry Jane garments are made in America (Mexico) and the United States (North Carolina and California). We aim to continue supporting nearshore and local manufacturing in America and supporting fair wages and safe working conditions for textile workers.

Our huge swimwear assortment and pretty prints reflect Berry Jane's commitment to providing swimsuit options or everyone. We want to provide more options than transform just a revealing bathing suit. Our aim is to encourage everyone to participate in summer, water sports and beach activities, and be comfortable.

About Our Logo
Our Berry Jane™ logo was created as an upside-down triangle with 6 circles. What does it mean?
- Circles: The circle symbol meaning is universal, sacred and divine. It represents the infinite nature of energy and the inclusivity of the universe. (Yes, it also looks like berries!)
- Upside Down Triangle: The upside down triangle is female, lunar, symbolizing feminine or Mother.
- The Number 6: Six is connected with balance, responsibility, and love. Life Path Number 6 has a lot of energy of service in it. It holds the harmony between the macrocosms and microcosms. The 6 life path number is "love toward others in order to exist for others."

Meet the Founder
Ava Carmichael is the visionary founder and designer behind Berry Jane. Ava is not only a highly accomplished designer but also a serial entrepreneur and marketing professional with an insatiable appetite for exploring new strategies and technologies.
Originally from Texas, Ava has lived far and wide, immersing herself in the vibrant cultures of cities like Los Angeles, New York and Denver.
Ava's remarkable journey in the fashion industry began in 1998, when she began designing swimwear. Over time, her passion evolved, leading her to focus on denim and collaborate with renowned apparel companies, fine-tuning her skills and craftsmanship.
In 2009, Ava took a bold step by launching Berry Jane, a spirited children's wear brand. It quickly blossomed into a flourishing line that now encompasses women's, men's and kids' activewear and swimwear.
