Paddle boarding has become super popular in the last few years. Not only is it fun, relaxing and a great workout for everyone, it's relatively easy to get started. Some beginners aren't exactly sure what to wear while paddle boarding, so we've compiled a list of tips for choosing the right paddle boarding clothes for your SUP adventures.
UPF Sun Protection
Even if you don't plan to be out all day, wear or bring clothing that is lightweight and provides UPF 40+ protection from the sun. Ideally, you want a rash guard and light weight swim tights to block the sun but also allow for free movement without drag in the water. These items can be worn or packed in a waterproof bag or backpack. At the very least, pack sunscreen!
Wear Brightly Colored Clothing
Wearing bright colored clothes while paddle boarding provides high visibility when you're out on the water. Other boaters and watercraft will be able to see you better. This adds to your safety allows you to be seen easier in case of emergency. In a US Navy study, the colors with the highest visibility were yellow-reds, orange, and fluorescent green. For underwater visibility. neon green provides the highest visibility color.
